A free August workshop! Alma Thomas Writing Through Art Poetry Workshop at the Smith College Museum of Art (Copy)

Join poet and educator Jan Freeman for this free July Writing Through Art Poetry Workshop at the Smith College Museum of Art. Together, we will write drafts in the galleries of the SCMA, using extraordinary paintings by Alma Thomas as portals to open memories, emotion, and new ways of using language.

Poets are invited to create new drafts and poems while experiencing the many ways that visual art opens inspiration, perception, memory, and wordplay. If weather permits, poets are invited to spend time in nearby Capen Botanical Gardens before the workshop, to replicate the garden inspiration that fed much of Alma Thomas’s art.

The morning workshop will take place at the Smith College Museum of Art, 20 Elm Street, Northampton, MA.
